Director of Brand Engagement | Newbury Comics
Carl Mello is Director of Brand Engagement for Newbury Comics. He’s been working in the music industry since the year Secrets of the Beehive and Paid in Full came out and started working at the Newbury Comics warehouse right around the time Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements was released. He started buying for the company when One in a Million and Different Class were hitting the shelves and began overseeing their music initiatives back when we were listening to Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? and Good Girl Gone Bad. Carl helped get Newbury Comics exclusive vinyl up and running back in the days of Double Cup and The Redeemer and is happy to say they’ve now released around 800 albums on Newbury Comics exclusive colored vinyl! Around the time GloToven and Sli’merre came out, he was asked to be the company’s Director of Brand Engagement, while still keeping involved in many other aspects of the company’s business.
He loves his job and thinks there can be a golden future in physical if we do a better job responding to the needs of a more diverse, younger group of music fans. If you’re as interested in that as you are in reissuing things like (amazing) Roxy Music records, we should talk.
