Making Vinyl Europe Unveils Record Sustainability Summit

A New Chapter in Eco-Friendly Music Production at the Conference

Haarlem/ Braunschweig, August 2024 – The Organization Team of the Making Vinyl Europe Conference is proud to announce the debut of the Making Vinyl Record Sustainability Summit, set to take place on the final day of the conference at the PHIL in Haarlem, the Netherlands. This groundbreaking event will be held on October 2, 2024, and is included in the Making Vinyl Conference registration fee, providing attendees with an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the forefront of sustainable practices in the vinyl record industry. The Business Conference is taking place from September 30 to October 2.

As the demand for vinyl records continues to rise, so does the urgency to adopt eco-friendly practices across the industry. The Making Vinyl Record Sustainability Summit seeks to address this crucial issue by bringing together industry leaders, environmental experts, artists, and enthusiasts to explore and promote sustainable solutions at every stage of the vinyl lifecycle – from material sourcing and production to recycling, packaging, and distribution.

While there is already a strong drive to optimize these processes, including numerous pioneering ideas within the field, there is still significant potential for growth in cross-disciplinary collaboration. This new program component of the conference aims to bridge that gap by uniting representatives from all relevant sectors to share expertise, address emerging challenges, and develop innovative approaches.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Making Vinyl Record Sustainability Summit as part of this year’s Making Vinyl European Conference,” said Bryan Ekus (USA), president of Making Vinyl. “This summit represents a significant step forward in our commitment to fostering sustainable practices within the vinyl record industry.

We believe that by bringing together a diverse group of experts and enthusiasts, we can drive meaningful change and ensure an eco-friendlier future for vinyl.” Conference Director Andreas Kohl adds: “With the community we’ve built over the years through the Making Vinyl Conferences, we’re now ready to advance to the next level. This phase involves addressing various environmental challenges and working with experts beyond our industry, such as plastic suppliers, NGOs, and strategists. We are eager to gain insights from these specialists and base our initiatives on their informed recommendations.”
